Equipment Leasing and Financing Association

Equipment Leasing and Financing Association (ELFA)PayNet, Inc. is working under an exclusive endorsement from the Equipment Leasing and Financing Association (ELFA) to develop a payment information data repository (PayNet) to provide commercial equipment lessors better information for making credit decisions. The agreement calls for ELFA marketing support and visibility with the ELFA membership.

Currently, equipment leasing and financing companies must rely on trade debt information and personal credit reports for extending long-term credit. The most relevant information, how a borrower is paying other long-term creditors, is not available to these lenders. As a result lenders often times make significant lending decisions without a full financial picture of the borrower. By aggregating critical payment history data, PayNet fulfills the primary need of helping members to make better credit decisions. Additional benefits include reduced information costs and greater access to credit for borrowers.

InfoCentricity

InfoCentricityPayNet and InfoCentricity have partnered to develop industry specific credit scores to the commercial lending industry. This partnership's first joint product is the Transportation Score which is likely to revolutionize both Class 8 and medium-duty truck and trailer lending. Developed jointly by InfoCentricity and PayNet and using the largest data pool of transportation loans and leases ever complied, this new score is not only empirically derived and statistically sound, but also a true credit professional's score, looking at the factors and issues that experienced lenders know drive performance in the real world. This score incorporates other attributes beyond traditional delinquency data. For example, the score distinguishes between owner-operators and fleets and it makes a distinction between private fleets and for-hire fleets. Even further, just for example, the score knows that public utilities are less of a risk than food wholesalers, and that these, in turn, are less of a risk than debris haulers. The score also takes into account what type of equipment the applicant uses and in what proportion, as medium-duty and Class 8 operations have very different risk profiles. In addition the score considers applicant time in business and business size, as well as trends, both in originations (looking for rapid expansion) and in delinquency, considering delinquency now, delinquency recently, and delinquency ever.
