Data Quality Analyst
Position Overview:
The Data Quality Analyst will play a key role in the development and implementation of a long-term data quality strategy. The primary focus for this position is on analyzing core data to identify quality gaps, implementing reporting processes to track data quality improvements over time, enhancing current systems, defining and prioritizing high-value data quality projects and managing projects to completion by collaborating with internal business units, 3rd party vendors, and clients.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Define and establish the overall strategy and approach for determining, investigating and resolving data quality issues
- Establish an on-going process for maintaining quality data and define data quality audit processes
- Utilize data profiling and data quality tools, as well as various data sources, to uncover and determine root causes of data quality issues
- Work closely with internal business units and clients (data owners) to resolve data quality issues
- Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve the quality of data management systems, processes, and standards
- Engage and partner with 3rd party vendors, internal development, and other parties as needed
- Take a hands-on approach to data cleansing
- Articulate the need for and benefits of data quality
Required Experience, Skills, & Competencies:
- 3+ years of data quality experience
- Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and execute on details
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and participate in multiple concurrent projects
- Self-starter with the initiative to identify and act upon opportunities without direction
- Strong knowledge of SQL including the ability to identify sets and subsets of information across multiple joins or unions of tables
- BS in MIS, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or other related field
- Willingness to learn new technologies to best solve data quality problems
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Sound planning and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Work independently and with others; self-directed and results-oriented
- Effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience, Skills, & Competencies:
- Understanding of leasing, consumer/commercial finance and/or credit reporting industries
- Experience using MS SQL-Server
- Six Sigma certification or other formal quality training
- Understanding OLTP principles and techniques
- Data mining methodologies and tools
Relationships:
Position reports to the Director and interacts with client members, 3rd party vendors, and multiple departments within the Company.
Quality Assurance Analyst
Position Overview:
As QA (Quality Assurance) Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting with validation and quality assurance of IT development and data. Responsibilities include testing and supporting complex data extraction, transformation and load systems, testing and validation of company website for searching and report delivery, validation of credit reports and other products, and documenting testing procedures and results.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform various testing of IT development projects including new features/enhancements to our core products, and the development of new products
- Develop and execute test plans and scripts, including user acceptance
- Contribute and adhere to standard QA processes and SDLC methodology
- Work with business users to create functional specifications
- Verify technical approach will meet business user requirements
- Track, manage and re-test defects to ensure issues have been resolved
- Work closely with business users and development team to complete projects on time
- Perform detailed analysis of large volumes of data and work with developers to correct data errors and improve data accuracy
- Build and maintain all forms of test documentation
The ideal candidate has the following skills and abilities:
- Mid-level QA analyst with 5-6 years of QA experience
- SQL skills are a must; C++ and/or Perl knowledge is a plus
- Have a passion for QA and take the initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks
- Experience in planning, designing and executing test cases
- Familiarity with standard QA practices and procedures
- Proficiency in regression and unit testing
- Desire to analyze data, looking for patterns and anomalies (i.e. a “data person”)
- Ability to work both independently and with a broad spectrum of people - business users, developers, managers
- Strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- A high energy level, sense of urgency, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident living in the Chicago area. Relocations will not be considered
